The consistency provided by a club or regular meeting helps prevent isolation and loneliness. Games are also a great way for seniors to connect with their friends and their children and grandchildren as it is an inclusive activity that can engage all ages. Talking and interacting with others during game play is a fantastic opportunity to get to know each other better and deepen relationships in your golden years and help you to feel connected.
A lot of games are also beautifully designed to be low stress and calming, helping combat depression and anxiety.
Reduce the Risk of Cognitive Decline
Playing board games can enhance memory formation and help exercise cognitive skills.
A British Medical Journal study notes that the risk of dementia was 15 percent lower in board game players than in non-players. Similarly, a 68-Year longitudinal study published in the Journal of Gerontology, found that the more you played games, the higher your cognitive function at 70 and the less cognitive decline from age 70 to age 79. Those who play more frequently also score higher on cognitive tests.
Playing card and board games can help older people retain their mental sharpness. Research shows that the frequency of playing games is associated with greater brain volume in several regions that are affected by Alzheimer's disease.

If you are looking for a way to increase the opportunities for your residents to be social and to perhaps have something special to do with visiting friends and families, booking a Game Knights event is a great idea.
We bring a large collection of games with all levels of ability and interests in mind. Play familiar favourites or learn something new. With Prize draws for the Grand Kids and friendly staff to facilitate, this is a wonderful way to connect and make new memories together.
Learn-to-play sessions make learning a new game fun and easy.
We can teach a new game to up to 16 people per session. We bring along multiple copies of the chosen game so that everyone can learn and play at the same time.
Our Game Knights Instructors have a quality voice amplification system that enables the whole group to hear the instructor clearly and resources have been specially developed with accessibility in mind.
Features such as large print instructions and easy to follow summary sheets are provided for each game. The group will be taught to play and then supported while they play through the game. You will then be left with a copy of the game to enjoy over the next 7 days.
For customers who have booked a Learn-to-play Session or an Event, we offer an add-on option to hire a package of games to make the fun last longer.
Owning games can be a big expense and if you are wanting to regularly have new games to play this can become unaffordable. It's also difficult to know what to choose from the thousands of different games on the market today.
We offer a great solution for this. Our Game Hire packages are put together selecting some of the best games there are and are curated with your residents in mind. We include a variety of accessible games to hire and enjoy for a period of time.
we can put together packages of Lightweight games which are quick and easy to learn and play and do not take too long. When you are looking for something a bit more challenging we offer some Middle to heavyweight options which include longer and more complicit options.
Our large collection of games means that we can put together packages that will always have something for everyone to enjoy.
